Antiracist Family Day

Antiracist Family Day is an annual free family event, started in 2021, that promotes and models age-appropriate antiracist practices for families and young children, including celebrating and affirming different races and identities, talking about injustice, and providing and modeling ways young children can take action in their communities.
The idea for this program was developed during conversations held by the Antiracist Services Committee, a working group at BPL that started virtually in June 2020. Staff members received training in antiracist practices to use in storytime and this was one of several programs developed to practice these new skills. The program is coordinated in partnership with the Brower Park Library and the Brooklyn Children’s Museum.
