Learn at Home Booklets

During the pandemic at the library, we pivoted from in-person early literacy storytimes and programs for children 0-5 to all virtual programming. Understanding that many people in our communities didn’t have access to digital technology or wifi, we also focused our efforts on creating hands-on physical tools that could encourage and support learning, talking, reading, singing, and playing at home. The Explore and Learn at Home booklets were part of this effort. I worked on these three booklets with the awesome design department at BPL. There is one for babies and toddlers, one for preschoolers (a fun collaboration with the Brooklyn Children’s Musuem!), and one for rising Kindergarteners and early elementary students. To date, I believe they’ve been distributed to over 25,000 families across Brooklyn.
